We’re seeking an experienced Data Engineer (AWS DocumentDB / MongoDB Migration) on a contract basis to play a key role in transforming and modernising a high-profile e-commerce data platform into a new AWS-native environment.
You’ll be responsible for the design, migration, optimisation and long-term performance of AWS DocumentDB, leading the transition from legacy MongoDB environments into a scalable, secure, and fully supported cloud-native solution.
This is a hands-on role for someone who truly lives and breathes DocumentDB—someone with deep expertise in MongoDB architecture, strong AWS knowledge, and proven experience delivering successful migrations into AWS DocumentDB at scale.

• Strong experience with MongoDB, including architecture, administration, optimisation and troubleshooting
• Proven delivery experience migrating MongoDB workloads into AWS DocumentDB
• Strong AWS experience across core services and database platforms
• Strong understanding of DocumentDB limitations, compatibility challenges, and performance tuning best practices
Key Responsibilities
• Own the end-to-end migration of MongoDB into AWS DocumentDB, ensuring successful delivery across design, implementation and optimisation
• Assess, troubleshoot and remediate compatibility gaps between MongoDB and DocumentDB
• Design high-performing, scalable and resilient DocumentDB architectures aligned to AWS best practice
• Lead data migration strategies using AWS DMS and other migration tooling where required
• Optimise indexing, query performance, cluster configuration, replication and operational efficiency within DocumentDB
• Support engineering teams with application changes required for full DocumentDB compatibility
