Role description
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate, Data Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. This is a client-facing role supporting a major engagement, requiring strong technical expertise, ownership, and the ability to work independently.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in building and scaling modern data platforms, with a focus on data management, governance, and performance optimization.
This is an on-site role (4β5 days per week) in Houston. Candidates based outside the area must be open to traveling onsite approximately twice per month.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and platforms
β’ Drive implementation of data management MVPs, including governance, metadata, and quality frameworks
β’ Build and manage data solutions using modern cloud-based tools and technologies
β’ Optimize performance across data systems, including Databricks and Kafka environments
β’ Collaborate directly with client stakeholders, providing clear communication and technical guidance
β’ Support data governance initiatives, including user access management (UAM), metadata management, and data quality standards
β’ Contribute to the development of advanced data engineering use cases and scalable solutions
Required Qualifications
β’ Hands-on experience with:
β’ Databricks
β’ Unity Catalog
β’ Strong experience building and optimizing data pipelines
β’ Proven ability to work in client-facing roles with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
β’ Experience with advanced data engineering scenarios and scalable architectures
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience with:
β’ Power BI
β’ dbt (data build tool)
β’ Kafka performance optimization
β’ Interest or experience in data governance and data management, including:
β’ Metadata management
β’ Data quality rules and metrics
β’ User access management (UAM)
β’ Exposure to GenAI applications in data ecosystems
β’ Prior experience in the oil and gas industry
