Role description
Senior Data Engineer – Finance Technology & Digital Transformation Hybrid- Boston, MA (Remote flexibility) 12-month Contract-to-Hire We’re hiring for a growing Finance Technology team and looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help modernize how financial data flows through the business. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves turning complex data systems into reliable, well-structured, and insight-driven platforms. You’ll sit at the intersection of Finance, Technology, and Strategy, helping shape how data is captured, cleaned, and used to drive smarter decisions. What You’ll Be Doing β€’ Build and fine-tune data pipelines and integrations that connect systems across the business. β€’ Design and maintain data models that keep financial reporting clean, fast, and consistent. β€’ Develop dashboards and reporting solutions in Power BI or similar tools to make data accessible for non-technical users. β€’ Collaborate with Finance stakeholders to define meaningful metrics and KPIs that actually reflect business performance. β€’ Troubleshoot data issues, optimize performance, and ensure security and compliance at every step. β€’ Play an active role in shaping data standards, governance, and best practices across the firm. β€’ Support and mentor less experienced data professionals in the team. What You’ll Bring β€’ Significant experience (8+ years) working in data engineering or BI environments. β€’ Expert-level SQL and data modeling knowledge (you know your way around star and snowflake schemas). β€’ Hands-on experience with Azure technologies, Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake, or Fabric. β€’ Proficiency with ETL tools like SSIS, dbt, Talend, or Informatica. β€’ Confidence building reports and dashboards using Power BI or SSRS. β€’ A practical mindset, you care about clean data, efficient pipelines, and clear documentation. β€’ Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in how data supports business outcomes. Why This Role This isn’t a maintenance job, it’s a build and shape opportunity. You’ll work directly with decision-makers, have input into architecture choices, and help define how data is used across the Finance function. We also offer the flexibility of remote or hybrid work, the autonomy to make a real impact, and a collaborative team that values doing things the right way. If you’re a data engineer who wants to lead by example, build robust systems, and help drive transformation, we’d love to connect. πŸ‘‰ Apply today or message us for a confidential chat.
