Location: 100% Remote (U.S.)
Employment Type: W2 Contract-to-Hire only (no C2C, no sponsorship)
Rate: ~$60/hour W2 (conversion to perm required/expected)
Overview
We are seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Data Engineer to join a centralized internal engineering team supporting internal platforms and systems within a Microsoft-based environment. This role is replacing an existing resource and is intentionally scoped for a lower-to-mid skill level with strong fundamentals and growth potential.
The ideal candidate has solid programming experience, practical Azure development exposure, and can contribute without requiring extensive retraining. This is all internal work in a fully remote setting, with a clear path to full-time conversion.
Responsibilities
β’ Develop and maintain internal applications and services using Python.
β’ Contribute to development work within Azure-based environments.
β’ Work with Azure Synapse and Azure Data Factory on the development side.
β’ Collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders on internal initiatives.
β’ Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
β’ Participate in code reviews and ongoing system enhancements.
β’ Grow into increased ownership and responsibility over time.
Required Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
β’ 2β5+ years of professional software development/data engineering experience (flexible based on skill fit).
β’ Strong proficiency in Python.
β’ Hands-on experience with Azure development (not infrastructure-heavy).
β’ Solid understanding of core programming concepts and best practices.
β’ Comfortable working independently in a remote, internal-facing role.
β’ Must be eligible for W2 employment and able to convert to full-time.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
β’ Experience with Azure Data Factory.
β’ Familiarity with Spark or distributed data processing (nice to have).
β’ Experience in Microsoft-centric environments.
β’ Background supporting internal platforms or tools.
Compensation & Logistics
β’ W2 only (no C2C, no third-party vendors).
β’ Contract-to-hire role.
β’ ~$60/hour W2, aligned to junior-to-mid level expectations.
β’ Full-time conversion target aligns roughly to:
β’ Junior: ~$120-130K
β’ Mid-Level: $130Kβ$150K
