Role description
Role: Senior Data Engineer (Healthcare / OMOP) Contract: 3 months (initial) Rate: £300 – £350 per day (Outside IR35) Location: Mainly Remote (London Ooffice meet-up twice per month) Start: ASAP Overview We’re hiring a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to support the build and delivery of a healthcare data product in a fast-moving, tech-for-good startup environment. This role is fully hands-on and requires someone comfortable working with sensitive, regulated data, owning problems end-to-end, and operating without heavy structure or support. You’ll work closely with product and stakeholders to translate user requirements into scalable data solutions. Key Responsibilities • Design and build data models and pipelines for healthcare datasets • Work with sensitive data, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security standards • Implement and maintain data linkage, access, and transformation processes • Apply anonymisation techniques (e.g. k-anonymity) where required • Translate user and product requirements into data solutions • Contribute to the development of data products used by end users • Work closely with stakeholders in a startup environment, iterating quickly and pragmatically Key Requirements • Strong experience working with healthcare or highly regulated data • Hands-on expertise with Python and SQL • Experience in data modelling and data warehousing • Understanding of OMOP / common data models / OHDSI (or similar healthcare data standards) • Experience with data access, linkage, and data treatment processes • Knowledge of data privacy and anonymisation techniques (e.g. k-anonymity) • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders Ideal Profile • Experience working in startup or scale-up environments • Comfortable with ambiguity and working without a “safety net” • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to challenge requirements constructively • Experience building end-to-end data products Additional Information • Fully remote, with bi-weekly meet-ups in London • Immediate start preferred • Opportunity to work on a high-impact, tech-for-good product with real-world outcomes
