Data Engineer II
Location: 100% Remote

About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with an organization seeking a Data Engineer II to join a growing team focused on building and supporting critical data systems and services. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across data pipelines, orchestration, cloud platforms, and large-scale datasets in a collaborative Agile environment.
You’ll work alongside other engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to design, build, maintain, and improve data solutions that support business-critical initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Data Pipeline Development
• Contribute to the design, build, testing, scaling, and maintenance of data pipelines from a variety of source systems, including internal, third-party, and cloud-based sources
• Support both batch and near real-time data pipeline development
• Help ensure reliable and scalable movement of data across systems
Data Engineering & Modeling
• Build and support data solutions involving data modeling, orchestration, and data lake concepts
• Work with structured and semi-structured data formats, APIs, and real-time feeds
• Develop reusable, efficient code to automate and streamline data processes
Cloud Data Platform Support
• Work within AWS-based data environments, including tools such as:
• S3
• Redshift
• DynamoDB
• Athena
• EMR
• Glue
• Lambda
• Support large-scale data processing using Python, SQL, and PySpark
Collaboration & Agile Delivery
• Partner with engineers and product managers to understand business and technical data needs
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including standups, retrospectives, and sprint planning
• Collaborate on code quality, system improvement, and successful project delivery
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues as they arise
• Continuously improve the codebase and engineering best practices
• Support scalable, maintainable solutions across the team’s data ecosystem
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Experience
• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering
• Strong experience with:
• Data pipelines
• Data orchestration
• Data modeling
• Data lake environments
• Proficiency in one or more of the following:
• Python
• Java
• Scala
• SQL
• Experience processing large datasets using tools such as:
• AWS Glue
• Apache Airflow / Amazon MWAA
• PySpark
• Experience with AWS data services, especially S3 and Redshift
• Familiarity with APIs, real-time feeds, and structured/semi-structured data sources
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with ETL tools such as Talend or Informatica
• Familiarity with Terraform
• Understanding of software build, release, deployment, and monitoring practices
• Strong background in test-driven development
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn new tools and methods
