Role description
Data Engineer – SQL & Databricks (Fixed Term Contract) Circa £75,000 6-12 months London Hybrid (1-2 days per week) We’re looking for a Data Engineer with strong expertise in SQL & and Databricks (Ideally in an AWS environment) to help us restructure and optimise our clients database environment. A key part of this role will be separating SQL databases and implementing Databricks, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability as we modernise our data landscape. What you’ll do • Lead the separation and migration of SQL databases to support growth and scalability • Design and implement cloud-based database solutions using AWS (RDS, Aurora, S3, Glue) • Build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines with Databricks to connect systems and improve data flows • Ensure database security, governance, and compliance are embedded in all solutions • Work closely with engineering, product, and analytics teams to meet business data needs What we’re looking for • Strong experience with SQL Server / relational databases, including design, optimisation, and administration • Proven track record of database separation, migration, and consolidation projects • Ideally hands-on experience with AWS data services and proven Databricks experience for pipeline development • Solid understanding of data architecture, performance tuning, and best practices • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver in complex data environments • Excellent communication skills Experience must include SQL and Databricks to be successful in securing this contract.
