Role description
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer for a 6-month temporary assignment to support data mapping, transformation, and standardization efforts across multiple data sources. This role is primarily focused on analyzing source data, defining mappings, and working directly with JSON-based data structures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and readiness for downstream use. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working in complex, multi-source data environments.
-Applicants must have experience with JSON in resume to be considered-
Key Responsibilities
β’ Analyze and document data mappings between multiple source datasets and defined target schemas
β’ Translate complex source data structures into standardized formats, ensuring data completeness and consistency
β’ Build, parse, validate, and transform JSON files and payloads, including nested and semi-structured data
β’ Support data preparation activities, including field normalization, transformation logic, and validation checks
β’ Partner with technical and business stakeholders to clarify data definitions, rules, and mapping requirements
β’ Identify data quality issues and work through root-cause analysis related to source data or mapping logic
β’ Maintain clear technical documentation, including data dictionaries and mapping specifications
β’ Participate in testing cycles to confirm mapped data aligns with defined requirements and expectations
Basic Qualifications
β’ 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused technical role
β’ Strong experience with data mapping across multiple systems or source files
β’ Hands-on experience working with JSON (parsing, transformations, validation, nested structures)
β’ Experience working with structured and semi-structured data formats
β’ Strong attention to detail and ability to work through complex data scenarios
β’ Ability to operate independently within a defined, time-bound project scope
β’ Broader CRM platform experience (e.g., Salesforce like environments) was emphasized as more critical than specific vendor tools.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience supporting data migration, data preparation, or data standardization efforts
β’ Familiarity with source-to-target mapping documentation and data dictionaries
β’ Exposure to enterprise-scale datasets or HR / CRM / ATS data is a plus
β’ Prior experience in contract or project-based roles
Required Education Bachelorβs Degree
Additional Information
β’ The role supports a major technology implementation combining CRM and ATS systems, impacting Talent Connection and Enterprise Tech leadership.
β’ The work focuses on data extraction, transformation, mapping, validation, and coordination with an external vendor that will execute the final data load
β’ Experience with Phenom and Beamery is considered nice to have, not mandatory.
Core Responsibilities
β’ Handle ~1M records, with a goal to reduce to 100kβ200k records.
β’ Extract data from legacy systems, clean/lens the data, map it to the new system, and validate post load accuracy.
β’ Work with multiple file types and data structures (e.g., multiple pulls for people, pools/projects, tags, parquet-style files).
β’ Vendor performs the actual load; the ND resource prepares and validates data
