Data Engineer - GCP, BigQuery, Airflow Location: London (Hybrid) Contract: 12 Months Rate: £350 per day PAYE (Inside IR35) Start Date: ASAP A leading technology and data-driven organisation is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join its data engineering team on an initial 12-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring high levels of data quality, reliability, and observability across critical business data platforms.Key Responsibilities • Build, maintain, and optimise scalable data pipelines within GCP • Develop and manage workflows using Cloud Composer and Apache Airflow • Design and support data solutions using BigQuery • Implement data quality checks and monitoring frameworks • Improve observability and operational performance of data platforms • Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures and performance issues • Work closely with engineering, analytics, and product teams • Follow best practices around testing, deployment, and documentationRequired Skills & Experience • Strong commercial experience with Python • Proven hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) • Experience with Apache Airflow and Cloud Composer • Strong knowledge of BigQuery • Experience building and supporting production data pipelines • Understanding of data quality, monitoring, and observability principles • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilitiesDesirable Skills • 3+ years' Data Engineering experience • Experience working in Agile delivery environments • Exposure to CI/CD and cloud-native development practices • Experience supporting enterprise-scale data platformsWhat's on Offer? • 12-month contract opportunity • £300 per day PAYE (Inside IR35) • Modern cloud technology stack • Opportunity to work on large-scale data engineering initiatives • Collaborative and fast-paced engineering environment
