Role description
Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Onshore Data Engineering Lead to drive the design, development, support, and continuous enhancement of enterprise-scale data platforms. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in SQL, Databricks, PySpark, and Power BI, combined with strong stakeholder management and delivery leadership skills. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with client stakeholders to understand business needs, translate requirements into scalable data solutions, and lead coordination with offshore development teams to ensure high-quality, timely delivery. You will play a critical role in improving data reliability, operational efficiency, and business value realization across the organization. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data pipelines and enterprise data solutions. • Build, optimize, and support data processing workflows using Databricks, PySpark, and SQL. • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic data models to support business decision-making. • Lead production support activities, including incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and service improvements. • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions. • Coordinate and guide offshore teams, ensuring delivery quality, adherence to timelines, and alignment with project objectives. • Identify and implement opportunities for process automation, performance tuning, and operational excellence. • Drive best practices in data engineering, governance, and platform reliability. Required Qualifications • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including query optimization, performance tuning, and data modeling. • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (GCP preferred; experience with non-Azure Databricks environments required). • Extensive experience developing solutions with PySpark. • Strong expertise in Power BI, including DAX, dashboard development, reporting, and data modeling. • Proven experience designing, building, and supporting enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data platforms. • Strong background in production support, issue resolution, and root cause analysis. • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and client-facing consulting skills. • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional and distributed teams. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Google BigQuery • Proficiency in Python • Knowledge of Delta Lake • Experience with Data Lakehouse architectures • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DataOps practices, and automated deployment frameworks Experience • 8+ years of overall IT experience. • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, or related disciplines. • Proven experience working within onsite-offshore delivery models. • Experience leading technical initiatives and collaborating directly with business stakeholders.
