Role description
Robert Half Technology are assisting a pharmaceutical procurement business to recruit a Data Engineer on a contract basis. Hybrid working - London based. Role • The Data Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to support business operations and analytics. • Work across the development lifecycle from prototyping through to production deployment and ongoing support. • Build and optimise data ingestion and transformation pipelines using technologies such as SQL, Python, Snowflake, DBT, and APIs. • Collaborate with analytics and business teams to deliver high-quality datasets for reporting, insights, and decision-making. • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance, particularly when handling sensitive data. • Implement best practices including logging, testing, and CI/CD processes. • Support and monitor the production data warehouse, resolving issues and communicating effectively with stakeholders. • Contribute to process improvements to reduce errors and enhance efficiency. • Stay up to date with emerging data engineering tools and practices. Profile • The Data Engineer will have strong experience building and maintaining data pipelines in a modern data environment. • Advanced SQL skills and solid experience with Python. • Experience with cloud data warehouse technologies (e.g. Snowflake or similar). • Familiarity with structured development environments, including version control, peer review, and CI/CD. • Experience with data testing and data quality assurance. • Understanding of data modelling and data warehousing concepts (Kimball/Inmon beneficial). • Experience with DBT and/or Airflow is highly desirable. • Experience working with APIs and integrating multiple data sources. • Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
