Role description

Scottish Power Renewables are looking for a Date Engineer to join them on a contract basis.

Role: Data Engineer

Business: Scottish Power Renewables - Cross Projects

Duration: 12 month initial contract with renewal in line with the project

Location: Tudor Street London or St Vincent Street Glasgow/hybrid style working (min of 2 day in the office)

Rate: Inside IR35, Umbrella and PAYE options available

Main Purpose of Job

The Data Engineer will work on the Digital Tools workstream within the Geospatial and Information Management Team in the offshore wind business at Iberdrola. This workstream builds and maintains a suite of data pipelines which serve data to teams across the offshore business.

These tools help people by giving them easy access to clean, live and well curated data which they can view within dashboards or use themselves to make decisions at all stages in the lifecycle of our offshore wind projects.

The data engineer will support the development of these tools. In particular they will integrate new data sources to our pipelines as well as scope and develop new visuals based on the requirements of the teams using this data.

Key Tasks

   • Support and collaborate with other members of the data engineering team

   • Support the data team with integration of new data sources into the current suite of Digital Tools

   • Work independently on a pipeline of data tasks to extend capabilities of our digital tools

   • Identify areas where digital tools could be improved: either in the deployment of the pipelines or in data analysis techniques

Key Criteria

Technical Expertise: Strong skills in data architecture and pipeline development, with extensive experience in SQL, Python, and familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes. Specific skills include:

   • Spark, Python, SQL

   • Familiarity with Synapse, Fabric, Databricks or other cloud-based data analytics platform

   • PowerBI

Data Management: Deep understanding of data modelling, data integrity, and data governance practices.

Good communication skills particularly the ability to gather and understand requirements from diverse areas of the business - including non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable

   • Experience implementing AI/ML models in a business environment

   • Good practical understanding of version control systems such as Git and CI/CD process.
