Data Engineer Tukwila, WA, 12770 Gateway Drive, 98168, Remote (West Coast hours) Contract: 6 months (possible for extension) Interview Process: 2 steps IV’s; 1st with manager and then technical IV with team Job Description Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer within our Enterprise Business Intelligence team to support our data platform evolution and cloud migration initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for reverse engineering legacy SQL Server SSIS packages and re-platforming/converting them into modern cloud ETL/ELT pipelines, building semantic models, and implementing scalable data architectures using modern cloud stack technologies. Key Responsibilities • Legacy Refactoring & Conversion: Analyze and reverse engineer legacy SSIS packages, stored procedures, and SQL Server objects, translating them into modern ETL/ELT pipelines. • Cloud Pipeline Development: Build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, and Snowflake. • Data Modelling & Semantics: Design and construct enterprise Power BI semantic models, data lake structures, and modern platform architectures (including support for Apache Iceberg and cloud-native frameworks). • CI/CD & DevOps Integration: Implement and maintain data engineering workloads using Azure DevOps and GitHub for version control, automated testing, and release management. • Collaboration & Governance: Work closely with Enterprise BI, Data Quality & Governance, Data Architecture, Cyber Security, and Credit Risk teams to deliver reliable, secure, and performant data assets. Qualifications & Technical Stack • Core Technical Required: • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure Data Factory (ADF). • Proven capability to reverse engineer SSIS packages and convert them into modern ETL tools. • Advanced SQL / T-SQL development skills and Python experience. • Platform & Tools: Power BI Semantic Models, Azure DevOps / GitHub, Apache Iceberg, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). • Advanced/Emerging Tech Experience: Exposure to Cortex and AIM technologies is highly desirable. • Domain & Background: Prior experience with traditional Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and Financial/Banking industry platforms (e.g., Credit Risk Management). • Work Style: Self-starter capable of leading technical efforts independently while collaborating actively within an Agile delivery team.
