Role description
We’re looking for a Data Engineer to support a high-impact data migration initiative within commercial lending, underwriting, and regulatory reporting. This role blends hands-on data engineering with business analysis, helping modernize legacy data environments while ensuring data integrity, scalability, and compliance.
What You’ll Do
• Analyze legacy SQL, DataStage, and SAS code to extract business logic and identify critical data elements
• Document and maintain detailed inventories of current data usage across operational and reporting systems
• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data management solutions to support migration efforts
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to assess downstream impacts, regulatory considerations, and optimization opportunities
What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience analyzing legacy codebases (SQL, DataStage, SAS) and documenting business logic
• 5+ years working with relational and non-relational databases (SQL, Snowflake, DB2, MongoDB)
• 3+ years of backend development experience (Python, Java, J2EE, or similar)
• 3–5 years of experience building and maintaining data pipelines (DataStage, dbt, or similar ETL tools)
• Proven background in business analysis and stakeholder engagement
Nice to Have
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience in financial services or banking environments
