Role description
Job Title: Talend Developer with Hadoop/Hive Company: Holistic Partners, Inc Location: Dallas, TX (Remote with 1-2 days onsite per month) Employment Type: Contract Salary: $50-60/hour Education Level: Bachelor’s Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Talend Developer with strong Hadoop/Hive experience to support a data migration initiative within the financial services/payments industry. The primary focus of this engagement is migrating existing Hadoop/Hive-based data processing functionality into Snowflake. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Talend Big Data development, Hadoop/Hive ecosystems, and Snowflake, with the ability to understand existing jobs, evaluate design intent, and contribute to migration decisions. This role requires someone who understands not only the technical "how" but also the "why" behind data workflows and architecture decisions. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Design, develop, and support Talend-based data integration solutions. β€’ Analyze existing Hadoop/Hive-based processes and migrate functionality to Snowflake. β€’ Review existing Talend jobs and understand business logic, data flows, and design intent. β€’ Develop and optimize ETL workflows supporting large-scale data migration initiatives. β€’ Work with Hadoop/Hive environments to understand existing data processing frameworks. β€’ Support Snowflake implementation and migration activities. β€’ Troubleshoot data processing issues and ensure data quality throughout migration. β€’ Collaborate with technical leads, architects, and project teams to deliver migration objectives. β€’ Provide technical insights and recommendations based on experience with enterprise data platforms. Required Skills & Experience: β€’ 3–5 years of overall data engineering/development experience. β€’ Strong hands-on experience with Talend Big Data development. β€’ Minimum 2+ years of Hadoop/Hive experience. β€’ Real-world Snowflake experience (migration, development, or implementation). β€’ Experience working on Hadoop/Hive to Snowflake migration initiatives. β€’ Strong understanding of ETL concepts, data pipelines, and enterprise data processing. β€’ Ability to analyze existing jobs and understand the reasoning behind current implementations. β€’ Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make technical decisions. β€’ Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: β€’ Experience working in financial services, banking, or payments environments. β€’ Experience with large-scale enterprise data migration projects. β€’ Experience working with complex data platforms and modernization initiatives. Additional Details: β€’ Visa: USC, GC only. β€’ Tax term: W2 requirement. β€’ Hybrid flexibility may be considered for a strong candidate. β€’ The delivery team includes an experienced technical lead who will provide support and guidance. β€’ US-based preferred in Dallas area.
