Job#: 3041305 Job Description: Data Engineer Location: Eagan, Minnesota (Remote) Role Overview This position is for a tech lead or principal engineer within a PBM Rebate Data Warehouse team. The role involves guiding strategy, developing solutions, and mentoring junior team members. The Data Engineer will be responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, support, and architecture of existing systems and platforms, ensuring solutions meet resiliency, stability, and operational readiness standards. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using GCP technologies, Apache Beam, Airflow, Python, and SQL. • Lead technical decision-making, establish engineering best practices, and ensure data quality, performance, and reliability. • Mentor and support junior and mid-level data engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing. • Act as a strategic contributor in roadmap planning to shape the future direction of data engineering capabilities. • Own technology solutions, including proactive monitoring, alerting, and communicating the technological roadmap. • Partner with Architecture, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure excellence in solution design. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, data science, statistics, or a related area of study, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required. A High School Diploma or GED is also required. Experience: 8 years of extensive technical experience in a variety of application development or package software implementations. Experience in the PBM, healthcare, or financial industry is required. Technical Skills: • Apache Beam and Apache Airflow • GCP Data Engineering (Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Cloud Composer, Gsutil, Dataplex) • Python programming • SQL • GitHub Soft Skills: • Ability to manage work direction and lead, influence, and mentor others. • Strong problem-solving and business analysis skills. • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. • Excellent written, technical, and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, data science, statistics, or a related area of study. • Certifications in Cloud and data technologies. • Experience with Kafka or other data stream processing platforms. • Experience with SnapLogic. • Understanding of or experience with Java. • Previous experience working in an Agile/Product Delivery model. • Experience working in an environment with regulatory compliance requirements such as HIPAA or PCI. Work Environment This is a 100% remote position. A daily stand-up meeting occurs from 10:30 to 10:45 AM EST. Physical Requirements • Constantly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk, and hear. • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and shifts outside of core business hours as needed.
