Data Engineer

Job Title: Senior Data Engineer Location: Dallas, Texas Duration: 6 months/ End of May with potential top extend 12-14months Required Experience • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or observability architecture. • Proven experience designing and leading enterprise observability solutions. • Hands-on expertise with Datadog, including dashboards, alerts, and integrations. • Experience with Datadog Data Observability (Metaplane), including lineage and data freshness monitoring. • Strong understanding of modern data platforms, pipelines, and analytics architectures. • Experience leading technical workshops and working directly with senior stakeholders. Technical Skills • Datadog (Core Monitoring, Data Jobs Monitoring, OpenTelemetry) • Datadog Data Observability / Metaplane • Azure data ecosystem (ADF, Databricks, ADLS, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB) • Snowflake and relational databases • BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) • Data pipelines, orchestration, and data reliability patterns • Alerting, incident management, and operational design Soft Skills • Strong communication and storytelling skills with technical and non-technical audiences • Ability to act as a trusted technical advisor • Structured problem solver with a systems-thinking mindset • Comfortable leading without direct authority • Detail-oriented with a focus on business outcomes Nice to Have • Experience in financial services, insurance, or regulated environments • Prior experience with large-scale data observability rollouts • Familiarity with lineage-driven impact analysis and incident workflows
