Role description
Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering Lead to join our team on-site in Phoenix, Arizona. The ideal candidate will combine deep hands-on data engineering expertise with the leadership skills to drive the design, build, and scaling of enterprise data pipelines and platforms. Key Responsibilities • Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows • Architect and maintain data lake/warehouse solutions to support analytics and business intelligence needs • Provide technical direction and mentorship to a team of data engineers • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, data scientists, and product teams to translate business requirements into robust data solutions • Own technical decision-making around data modeling, pipeline architecture, and tooling • Ensure data quality, integrity, governance, and security across all pipelines and platforms • Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices for performance, scalability, and maintainability • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data pipeline and production issues • Drive adoption of CI/CD practices for data pipeline deployments • Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, cost, and reliability • Stay current with emerging data engineering tools and trends, and recommend improvements to existing systems Required Skills & Qualifications • 6–8 years of professional experience in data engineering • Strong expertise in Python and/or Scala, and SQL • Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark, Airflow, or dbt • Solid experience with cloud data platforms (AWS Redshift/Glue, Azure Synapse/Data Factory, or GCP BigQuery/Dataflow) • Experience with data warehousing concepts and modern lakehouse architectures (Snowflake, Databricks, Delta Lake) • Working knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar) is a plus • Proficiency with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar) • Strong understanding of data modeling, data governance, and data quality frameworks • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) preferred • Prior experience leading or mentoring a data engineering team • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) Work Authorization Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements (unless otherwise specified).
