Job Title: Data Engineering Manager
Job Type: Contract
Job Location: Johns Creek, GA
We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer + Project Manager to drive both the technical build and program oversight of our Adobe ESP POD initiative. This role combines strong hands-on data engineering expertise on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) with proven leadership in managing cross-functional programs, stakeholders, and deliverables. The ideal candidate can balance building robust pipelines and APIs with leading sprint execution, stakeholder alignment, and ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Architecture
Lead the design and development of data ingestion pipelines moving data from SAS, transactional systems (OES), and Wunderkind into Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow, Cloud Composer).
Define and document data architecture diagrams, integration frameworks, and orchestration models.
Implement and optimize data transformations, aggregations, and source-to-target mappings (S2T) in BigQuery.
Build and manage customer profile data models within Google Cloud Platform and integrate with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP).
Develop and maintain REST APIs for data exchange between internal systems, Google Cloud Platform, and AEP.
Establish and monitor performance, scalability, and reliability standards for data pipelines.
Project & Program Leadership:
Serve as single point of accountability for Adobe ESP POD delivery, aligning business and technical priorities.
Drive Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and ensure sprint velocity aligns with client expectations.
Coordinate across data engineers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
Track project milestones, risks, dependencies, and escalations with proactive communication to leadership.
Manage stakeholder expectations, prepare status dashboards, and ensure delivery aligns with agreed timelines.
Ensure compliance with data governance, quality, and security frameworks.
Must-Have Skills:
Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow, Cloud Composer).
Strong SQL for advanced data modeling, transformations, and validation.
Proficiency in Python for pipeline automation, scripting, and testing.
Hands-on experience with API design and development.
Proven experience leading data engineering teams and projects end-to-end.
Good-to-Have Skills:
Experience with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) integrations.
Familiarity with Performance Marketing Solutions (e.g., Wunderkind).
Knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks and project management tools (Jira, Confluence, MS Project).
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data engineering.
Why This Role is Unique:
This is not a typical engineering role. You will be hands-on in designing next-gen data pipelines while also owning delivery governance and stakeholder management. This dual responsibility makes the role critical to ensuring that marketing data pipelines are not only built right but delivered right on time, with transparency, and at scale.
Thanks,
Raleigh David.
