Job Summary: The Data Governance / AI Governance Specialist will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, and enforcing governance frameworks for AI and data initiatives. This role requires strong experience in AI governance, data strategy, compliance, and risk management, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams including Data Science, Legal, Compliance, and IT. The specialist will ensure AI systems adhere to industry standards, ethical principles, and regulatory guidelines while supporting the organizations AI Center of Excellence. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the AI Center of Excellence to develop and maintain AI governance policies, procedures, and standards. Align governance efforts with ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, and internal SAFE protocols. Work with Data Science teams to define decision boundaries and ensure monitoring, bias mitigation, explainability, and transparency for AI/ML models. Conduct risk assessments and impact analyses for AI technologies in collaboration with Procurement and relevant teams. Monitor compliance with policies and regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA. Ensure Responsible AI considerations are addressed in supplier requisitions and contracts. Partner with Enterprise Data Strategy teams to ensure AI system data is high-quality, well-documented, and fit for purpose. Define and enforce standards for data lineage, metadata management, and data stewardship. Collaborate with Data Governance and Engineering teams to ensure data pipelines are auditable, secure, and aligned with governance requirements. Establish protocols for data minimization, anonymization, and synthetic data generation. Ensure ethical sourcing and elimination of systemic bias in data used for AI applications. Establish governance frameworks and guardrails for GenAI applications and use of LLMs/SLMs. Partner with Legal, Compliance, IT, and business teams to align governance initiatives. Support the Information Governance Advisory Board (IGAB) and AI Council with quarterly packets and policy updates. Develop metrics to evaluate AI system performance, fairness, and robustness. Ensure traceability between data inputs, model decisions, and business outcomes. Provide training and guidance on AI governance practices. Work with the AI Center of Excellence to lead internal awareness campaigns on ethical AI and data handling. Required Skills: Overall 5+ years of Data Governance experience with at least 2 years focused on AI Governance and AI Applications. Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Law, Data Science, or related field. 3+ years in AI governance, data strategy, compliance, or risk management. Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and governance tools (Databricks, Purview, Profisee, Collibra, Informatica, Alation). Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Skills: Experience with SAFE protocols and AI lifecycle documentation. Experience in enterprise governance boards or policy committees. Knowledge of procurement workflows and supplier risk assessments. Experience in data readiness assessments and data quality frameworks for AI/ML applications.
