Role description
The Senior Data Governance is responsible for developing and implementing data quality standards and data security policies that support the Data Governance program while also facilitating effective data sharing and protection. By coordinating with various departments and Data & AI team, the Data Governance member ensures that data governance practices align with regulatory requirements, and business strategies to enhance decision-making processes and operational efficiency to deliver best-in-class Data Lake services.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
β’ Drive the execution of a comprehensive data governance program, including the creation of a framework encapsulating data quality, security, privacy, and lineage in a modern data architecture environment.
β’ Implement data governance processes audits & and controls to monitor and measure data compliance.
β’ Lead cross-functional data governance committees or working groups to address data quality related issues and identify opportunities for data optimization.
β’ Manage the resolution of data quality issues, including root cause analysis, corrective action plans, and improvement initiatives.
β’ Manage relationships with all stakeholders of the team, build strong relationship with responsible business owners, other teams, and IT counterparts.
β’ Support business owners and data stewards in addressing high priority enterprise data problems, recommend solutions and use of industry standards when appropriate.
β’ Ensure issues encountered within the team are managed and escalated as appropriate.
β’ Design, manage and improve the activities and processes as they relate to the team.
β’ Audit and ensure that approved processes and procedures are followed within the team.
β’ Participate, support, and implement any Enterprise Data Management related development assignments.
β’ Understand industry standard and/or NRG specific system development life cycle (SDLC) phases, including the ability to provide guidance on how to document business requirements and impacts on process flows.
β’ Coordinate and communicate in a clear and timely manner on changes, issues, and business impacts, among team members.
Minimum Requirements
β’ Bachelorβs degree or masterβs degree in an accredited four-year college in computer science, software engineering or equivalent.
β’ A minimum of 5+ years of database and custom data warehouse design, testing, development, and architecture experience required, or equivalent experience in business process design and engineering.
β’ Must be skilled in a Data Governance and/or Data Quality tools such as Alation, or Monte Carlo
β’ Must have data architecture knowledge & understanding of cloud base tools such as Google Cloud Platform, DBricks, Snowflake, Firestore, AlloyDB and BigQuery.
β’ Knowledgeable of NRG terminology, concepts, and value chain.
β’ Must be skillful at verbal and written communication to both leadership teams and peer groups.
β’ Must be comfortable working with senior management, both on the business and technical sides. Must demonstrate ability to create professional relationships and effectively partner with and influence a cross-functional team.
β’ Must be able to develop a long-range course of action or set of goals to align with the organizationβs vision.
β’ Must be initiative-taking in building and aligning stakeholders, capabilities, and resources for getting things done quickly and achieving complex objectives.
