Data Governance Analyst
Location: Coventry - 2/3 days on site
Contract Length: 6 months Initially

Overview
The Data Governance Analyst will support the delivery and embedding of data governance initiatives across the organisation, working closely with the Data Governance Delivery Lead, data owners, data stewards, IT, and business stakeholders. The focus of the role is on implementing governance policies, supporting compliance assessments, maintaining governance tooling, and improving overall data maturity. This is a fast-paced role involving multiple parallel workstreams rather than a single programme.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the rollout and embedding of data governance policies and frameworks
• Assist in planning and coordinating data governance workstreams
• Carry out compliance assessments for new systems, features, and digital initiatives
• Support development and ongoing enhancement of the data governance toolkit, including data ownership, metadata capture, definitions, and lineage
• Maintain and enhance the central Data Hub, ensuring governance documentation and standards remain up to date
• Support configuration, administration, and user onboarding of the data governance tooling
• Assist with drafting and implementing data classification policies
• Work directly with business and technical stakeholders to gather information, follow up on actions, and communicate governance changes
Required Skills & Experience
• Experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or business analysis
• Understanding of core data governance concepts (data ownership, metadata, data standards, data quality)
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and workstreams in a fast-paced environment
• Awareness of GDPR and data risk management principles
• Experience with data governance or cataloguing tools such as Precisely, Collibra, or Informatica
• Exposure to data classification, compliance assessments, or data risk frameworks
• Experience working in regulated or data-led environments
