Job Title: Data Governance Analyst Client: State of Virginia – VITA (Office of Data Governance & Analytics) Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid – 4 days onsite/week) Address: 8701 Park Central Dr, Suite 100, Richmond, VA Duration: 1+ year (long-term, extendable) Important Notes • Must live within 1 hour of Richmond, VA • No relocation candidates • Hybrid role (4 days onsite required) Role Summary Looking for a Data Governance Analyst with 6+ years of IT experience, especially in: • Metadata management • Data modeling You will work with the Office of Data Governance & Analytics (ODGA) to manage data quality, lineage, and governance processes. Key Responsibilities • Maintain business glossary and data catalog • Create and manage metadata • Build data lineage diagrams (track data from source to usage) • Support data modeling activities • Define and implement data quality rules • Perform data audits and resolve issues • Work with teams to identify critical data elements • Use tools like JIRA for task tracking • Automate tasks using Power Platform Technical Responsibilities Data Governance & Catalog • Maintain data catalog, taxonomy, and data dictionary • Onboard new data sources Metadata & Lineage • Capture and manage metadata • Create and update data lineage diagrams • Perform metadata and data quality audits Data Quality • Define rules, thresholds, and validation checks Required Skills & Experience • 6+ years in IT • 3–5 years in Data Governance with hands-on experience in: 1. Metadata management 1. Data lineage 1. Business glossary 1. Data quality rules • Experience with tools like: • Microsoft Purview • Informatica • Alation • Collibra • Knowledge of SQL and data systems • Strong communication and organizational skills • Attention to detail Nice to Have • Azure or Data certifications • Experience with big data or data security • Data quality tools (Collibra DQ, Informatica DQ, etc.) • Power Platform experience Work Environment • Fast-growing data-focused government team • Strong support from management • Opportunities for growth and learning • Work impacts data governance for the state
