Role description
Experienced Data Governance Analyst (Contract Role) We are looking for an experienced analyst with strong data management and information governance skills to support key initiatives on a contract basis. This role works closely with business partners, data stewards, and technical teams to document data definitions, understand data flows, and help apply governance standards across critical data assets. The work involves frequent collaboration, gathering information, clarifying processes, and ensuring consistent data handling practices. The position requires hands‑on work in Microsoft Purview to maintain business glossary terms, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), lineage, and data product documentation. Responsibilities also include supporting data quality reviews, assisting with data issue troubleshooting, and contributing to processes that improve data accuracy across SAP, integrated applications, and downstream reporting environments. Familiarity with SAP GRC Security is helpful, but the focus is on understanding data structures, documenting information, validating controls, and supporting governance workflows. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, working with both business and technical teams, and contributing to structured governance processes. Key Responsibilities • Maintain and update metadata in Microsoft Purview, including glossary terms, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), lineage, and data product documentation. • Collaborate with business teams, data stewards, and IT to gather information, document definitions, clarify business rules, and support governance activities. • Conduct data quality checks and validate master data across systems. • Use Power BI to review datasets, analyze trends, validate information, and prepare clear summaries or visuals. • Build or maintain dashboards, metrics, and scorecards to support governance reporting. • Apply foundational SAP GRC Security knowledge to assist with access validation, SoD review support, and related controls when needed. • Help develop governance processes, including updating templates, improving documentation, and supporting repeatable workflows. • Participate in working sessions and project discussions, capturing requirements and documenting decisions and next steps. • Prepare materials for governance reviews, updates, and training sessions. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Data Management, or related experience. • Two to four years of experience in data management, data analysis, information governance, or similar work. • Experience working with business partners, data stewards, and technical teams to gather requirements and clarify data needs. • Familiarity with data governance concepts such as glossary terms, CDEs, lineage, data quality, and master data management. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data flows and identify inconsistencies. • Ability to create clear documentation, business rules, and guidance materials. • Proficiency with Power BI for dataset review, analysis, and visualization. • Strong communication skills and the ability to support discussions or training sessions. • Experience working across cross‑functional teams in a structured environment. • Experience creating or maintaining governance dashboards, metrics, or scorecards. • Ability to support process improvement using templates, controls, and repeatable workflows. • Experience supporting project teams or operational workstreams. • Foundational understanding of SAP GRC Security. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications • Hands‑on experience with metadata management tools, especially Microsoft Purview. • Knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA or DCAM and the ability to apply them in practice.
