Role description
We are seeking a Data Governance Analyst/Engineer to support enterprise-wide data governance initiatives by driving application onboarding, metadata management, governance automation, and reporting. This hybrid role combines business analysis, technical automation, and stakeholder engagement to improve governance processes across modern data platforms.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with both people and technology, has strong analytical skills, and is passionate about automating manual processes while improving data visibility and governance maturity.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead onboarding of applications and data assets into the enterprise data governance ecosystem.
• Coordinate metadata collection, system registration, and governance workflows.
• Build dashboards, reports, and governance scorecards using Power BI or Tableau.
• Develop Python-based automation scripts to streamline metadata collection and reporting.
• Integrate with REST APIs to automate governance processes.
• Query and analyze governance metadata using SQL.
• Collaborate with application owners, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure governance compliance.
• Create process documentation, status reports, and governance metrics.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Support governance initiatives across platforms including OpenMetadata, Collibra, Ataccama, Azure, and Databricks.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analysis, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1–3 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Analytics, Application Support, or a related technical role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
Required Technical Skills
• Strong SQL for querying governance metadata and reporting datasets.
• Python scripting for automation, data processing, and REST API integration.
• Experience building dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
• Experience working with REST APIs.
• Comfortable working with JSON, CSV, and API responses.
• Hands-on experience with AI productivity tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar developer IDEs.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with OpenMetadata, Collibra, Ataccama, or similar Data Governance platforms.
• Understanding of:
