Data Governance Consultant

Data Governance profile— Location: Newark, NJ (Onsite) Responsibilities • Define and enforce data quality rules across ingestion pipelines and data catalogues. • Set up and manage enterprise data catalogues — metadata, lineage, and asset classification. • Recommend and implement data governance tools suited to the organisation. • Engage business users across units to co-design governance guardrails and policies. • Drive data mastering strategy from ingestion through to consumption. • Establish data ownership and stewardship models across domains. • Champion data governance as a strategic business enabler — articulating the value of trusted, well-governed data in driving better decisions, reducing risk, and improving operational efficiency. • Liaise with business unit leaders and key stakeholders to build awareness and buy-in for governance initiatives, translating technical standards into business-relevant outcomes. • Act as a governance advocate across the organisation — conducting working sessions, training, and roadshows to embed a data-ownership culture at every level of the business. Requirements • 10+ years in data governance, data management, or data engineering. • Hands-on with DQ rule definition, data catalogue setup, and ingestion pipeline governance. • Experienced in evaluating and deploying DG platforms (Purview, Collibra, Alation, etc.). • Strong communicator — able to translate governance concepts for business stakeholders. • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and MDM principles.
