We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Data Governance Engineer to design and implement scalable data governance frameworks across our organization. This role blends technical expertise with governance strategy, making it ideal for candidates with backgrounds in Data Engineering or Data Management who thrive in cross-functional, fast-paced environments. Experience in the Energy sector is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
• Engineer and deploy data governance policies, standards, and controls to ensure enterprise-wide adoption.
• Partner with data engineering, analytics, and business teams to safeguard data quality, integrity, and compliance.
• Build and maintain data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across business units.
• Define and automate metadata management, data lineage tracking, and cataloging practices.
• Implement solutions for data classification, access control, and privacy compliance.
• Assess existing governance processes, identify gaps, and engineer technical solutions for improvement.
• Provide tools, documentation, and training to enable organization-wide adherence to governance best practices.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data engineering, or related fields.
• Proven success implementing enterprise data governance frameworks and tooling.
• Strong technical understanding of data architecture, metadata management, and data lifecycle processes.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards (GDPR, CCPA, or similar) and compliance-driven data practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Preferred: Background in the Energy industry, with insight into sector-specific data challenges.
Tools & Technologies (Preferred)
• Data governance platforms such as Unity Catalog or Microsoft Purview.
• Experience with data platforms like Databricks or Microsoft Fabric.
• Proficiency with cloud environments, especially Azure.
