We are looking for a highly skilled Data Governance Engineer to join the team of our exceptional client. This role focuses on building and maintaining secure, compliant, and high-performing data environments, with a strong emphasis on governance within a modern data Lakehouse architecture.
This position requires hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, strong technical expertise in data governance and security, and the ability to design scalable solutions that enable responsible data and AI usage.

What will your day look like? As a Data Governance Engineer, you will:
• Design and implement data governance frameworks, including data cataloging, metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality monitoring
• Build and maintain security controls across cloud environments, including role-based access, data masking, encryption, and network security
• Implement privacy-preserving techniques and ensure compliance with global regulations such as GDPR and CCPA
• Develop and enforce data classification schemes and access policies in collaboration with business stakeholders
• Create solutions for data quality validation, monitoring, and remediation
• Optimize analytics infrastructure for performance and cost efficiency to support BI and AI workloads
• Implement audit logging and monitoring systems to track data access and usage
• Collaborate with data teams to ensure governance controls support—not hinder—data accessibility
• Automate governance processes such as access provisioning, compliance reporting, and policy enforcement
• Support AI governance by implementing controls for model data access and responsible AI practices
• Document technical architectures, governance frameworks, and security protocols
• Stay current with evolving data privacy regulations and security best practices
You will be a good fit for the Data Governance Engineer role if you have:
• 4+ years of experience in data engineering, security engineering, or data governance roles
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, or similar
• Deep understanding of data governance concepts including metadata, lineage, and data quality
• Solid knowledge of data security practices including encryption, access control, and authentication
• Experience implementing compliance requirements for regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, or similar
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or similar)
• Understanding of analytics architectures and performance optimization techniques
• Ability to translate business and compliance requirements into technical solutions
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and documentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with data modeling and database design
Nice-to-Haves:
• Experience with Snowflake or Databricks (security, governance, performance tuning)
• Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-native architectures
• Knowledge of AI/ML governance and responsible AI practices
• Experience with data masking, tokenization, or differential privacy techniques
• Familiarity with modern data stack and Lakehouse architectures
• Background in analytics engineering or business intelligence
• Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
• Relevant certifications in cloud security or data privacy
