Role description
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Expert with strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Purview to lead enterprise-scale data governance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have proven experience implementing governance frameworks, metadata management, lineage, classification, and stewardship operating models, preferably within investment management or financial services environments.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead setup, configuration, and administration of Microsoft Purview (Data Map, Catalog, Scanning, Lineage, Classification, Glossary).
β’ Implement metadata harvesting across SQL, Oracle, Data Lakes, S3, Lakehouse, BI tools, and Fabric pipelines.
β’ Develop API-driven automation for metadata ingestion, lineage enrichment, and stewardship workflows.
β’ Design and operationalize enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, ownership models, standards, and RACI structures.
β’ Establish KPIs to track catalog coverage, lineage completeness, classification accuracy, and data quality improvements.
β’ Build end-to-end lineage across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.
β’ Collaborate with business stakeholders, data stewards, engineering, analytics, and AI teams to drive governance adoption.
β’ Support regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and governance reporting.
Required Qualifications
β’ Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview.
β’ Background in data engineering, architecture, or AI/ML data platforms.
β’ Proven track record implementing enterprise data governance programs.
β’ Knowledge of metadata standards, lineage frameworks, data quality concepts, and modern Azure/Fabric ecosystems.
β’ Experience in investment management or financial services domains (portfolio, trades, securities, risk, reference data).
Preferred
β’ 10β15 years of data governance experience in large enterprises.
β’ Experience with tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Informatica.
β’ Relevant certifications (Azure, DAMA, DCAM, Data Governance).
