Role description
HMRC Data Office is looking for an Abacus Data Mapping Expert for a day rate contract.
This role will focus on end-to-end mapping of processes and data transformations, building detailed relationships between attributes, datasets, systems, risks, controls, and metrics using Informatica AXON and ABACUS. You will also explore how AI can be used to infer new relationships and enhance business insight through semantic enrichment.
Key Responsibilities
• Begin with detailed mapping of processes that transform address data, expanding to other domains as the platform evolves.
• Build and document relationships at the attribute level between datasets and metadata assets in AXON.
• Link ABACUS process models to AXON metadata to support traceability, assurance, and reuse.
• Establish semantic relationships between processes, data, systems, risks, controls, and metrics.
• Apply AI/data science techniques to infer new connections and enrich metadata with business context and insight.
• Collaborate with data owners, architects, and governance teams to ensure mappings are accurate, meaningful, and reusable.
Essential Skills and Experience
• Strong experience in data governance, metadata management, or data mapping.
• Familiarity with metadata tools such as Informatica AXON and ABACUS.
• Understanding of data transformation processes and attribute-level relationships.
• Background in data science, AI, or semantic technologies.
• Ability to work across technical and business teams to gather and validate metadata.
Desirable
• Experience with address data or other high-value domains.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), knowledge graphs, or semantic layer design.
• Experience in public sector or regulated environments.
