Data Governance Specialist

Duration: 6+ Months Interview Type: In-person Interview Position Type: Hybrid( 3 Days onsite, 2 Days Remote) Green Card / US Citizen only Job Description: Client is seeking a data governance analyst to join the AI/ML team working with Oracle databases, Swagger/Open APIs, and metadata platforms such as Open Metadata. This role will coordinate with developers, business analysts, application teams, and SMEs to ensure data assets are documented, owned, classified, and understood. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with experience in data engineering, data science, data management, data analysis, or data governance. Responsibilities: • Administer and manage metadata platform and documentation process for databases, APIs, data owners, business definitions, classifications, and lineage. • Coordinate with DB developers, business analysts, and SMEs to collect and maintain accurate metadata. • Drive discussions to capture business meaning, data rules, workflow context, and system logic. • Translate technical data structures into clear, business-friendly documentation. • Build analytics to measure progress, including metadata completeness, ownership coverage, documentation gaps, and data quality trends. • Support AI readiness by improving data dictionaries, semantic documentation, and API metadata. Requirements: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • BS in mathematics, statistics, applied mathematics, operations research, data science, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
