Data Governance Specialist- Remote
100% remote- Must be able to work PST hours
5+ year contract
$54-$57 an hour
Looking for a Data Governance Specialist that will define and enforce data governance policies, standards, and data quality rules across systems. Collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance. Maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and lineage documentation, and monitor data quality metrics. Support data stewardship, access controls, and regulatory requirements while identifying opportunities to improve data processes and governance practices.
Required Skills:
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance. Must have occurred within the last 7 years.
• Must have experience conducting project readiness assessments for a minimum of one 1 data monitoring system implementation within California public sector agencies or law enforcement organizations. All experience must have occurred within the last 7 years.
• Must have expertise in developing procurement strategies for a minimum of 1 technology modernization initiative involving data collection and reporting systems for a California state entity. All experience must have been within the last 7 years.
• Must have experience designing and implementing data strategy and data governance frameworks for a minimum of one 1 large California state entity, including the development of policies, standards, and processes to ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance within the last 7 years.
• Must have a Bachelors Degree
Bonus Skills:
• Data governance-related professional certification(s).
• Current Certified Data Management Professional certification.
• Experience providing evaluation and selection assistance for a minimum of two 2 large-scale IT solutions for State of California departments within the past five 5 years.
• Experience creating and completing a minimum of 2 Requests for Proposals, and 2 developing system requirements for a minimum of 2 large-scale IT solutions, with a minimum of one 1 engagement involving law enforcement-specific requirements within the last 7 years.
• Advanced degree
