π Data Catalog/Governance Specialist Torrance, CA | W2 Employmentβ¨ Overview
We're expanding our data governance team in Torrance, CA and searching for a highly motivated Data Catalog Specialist! This is a pivotal second hire for our function, signifying our commitment to robust, accessible, and compliant data assets. You'll be the architect behind our operational data catalog, driving best practices and ensuring data is well-documented and valuable. π Key Responsibilities
β’ Implement & Manage Data Catalog:
β’ βοΈ Set up, configure, and manage Informatica Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC), including scanners, profiling, and sampling. (Experience with Alation or Collibra is also highly valued!)
β’ βοΈ Implement Cloud Data Catalog, Data Quality, and Metadata ingestion processes.
β’ Drive Data Governance & Quality:
β’ π Build compelling catalog and quality reports for domain/sub-domain level data governance and quality metrics.
β’ π‘ Develop and demonstrate insightful Data Governance dashboards for various personas (Data Owners, Stewards, Engineers, Privacy Officer, etc.).
β’ π Champion and support the documentation of data lineage and data quality.
β’ Operational Support & Collaboration:
β’ π€ Work closely with business and IT teams, including Data Stewards and Architects, to understand requirements and build/enable catalogs.
β’ π Perform Technical Data Steward responsibilities as needed, assisting with data ownership and operational tasks.
β’ ποΈ Define, operationalize, and support governance and steering councils using Data Catalog tools.
β’ Compliance & Advanced Features (Bonus):
β’ βοΈ Support compliance inquiries and produce audit reports related to SOX and CCPA.
β’ π Assist with PII Classification, leveraging Informatica CLAIRE or Gen AI-based auto-classification.

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
β’ 2-4 years of strong, hands-on experience with Data Catalog tools like Informatica Data Catalog (CDGC), Informatica Data Quality, Alation, Unity, or Collibra.
β’ β Proven ability to build strong collaborative relationships, earning trust and influencing tactical and strategic objectives.
β’ π§ A knowledgeable, self-driven go-getter with a strong sense of ownership.
β’ π Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
π Desired Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
β’ ποΈ Understanding of entity-relationship modeling, metadata systems, data security, quality tools, and techniques.
β’ π Ability to design traditional/relational and modern big-data architectures (cloud-agnostic mindset is key; AWS is a plus!).
β’ π£οΈ Exceptional communication and presentation skills for training and demonstrating catalog value.
