Role description
RED is currently seeking an experienced Data Management Specialist to support a large-scale data management and governance programme within the insurance sector.
Contract Information
• Role: Data Management Specialist – Insurance
• Location: London
• Working Model: Hybrid, 2–3 days on-site per week
• Duration: Until 31/12/2026
• Engagement Type: Inside IR35
• Start Date: ASAP
Required Skills and Experience
• Strong experience in data management, data governance, or data transformation within the insurance sector.
• Proven background defining data management approaches across the insurance value chain, including policy, claims, underwriting, product, customer, and operational data.
• Ability to define data management artefacts, operating models, roles, responsibilities, and governance structures.
• Strong understanding of data personas, data ownership, data stewardship, and data accountability models.
• Experience shaping data management practices across areas such as product master data, data cataloguing, metadata management, data quality, and data lineage.
• Good understanding of large-scale data programmes, including data lakes, data warehouses, analytics, AI, and machine learning initiatives.
• Experience working with business and technology stakeholders to translate insurance requirements into practical data management frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, regulatory, compliance, and privacy requirements, including GDPR, Solvency II, FCA/PRA expectations, and internal data policies.
• Understanding of core insurance platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, or similar, and how they integrate with wider data and analytics ecosystems.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT processes, reporting tools, and modern data architecture environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior business, technology, governance, and delivery stakeholders.
• Ability to define clear standards, documentation, delivery artefacts, and implementation guidance for data teams.
• Experience working in Agile or SAFe delivery environments would be beneficial.
