Role description
Data Engineer
Remote, OR
12+ Months Contract
This position is fully remote. Ideally, looking for this candidate to have a background in Retail, Apparel, or eCommerce- this would be a big plus. Secondly, if they have DAM system experience is another plus.
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Data Migration Engineer to support a large-scale, international business transformation for global fashion brands.
This role focuses on designing, building, and executing data migration pipelines, ensuring data is accurately extracted, transformed, and loaded across systems and cloud platforms.
You will work closely with both engineering and business teams to translate data requirements into scalable migration solutions, playing a key role in moving structured and unstructured data into modern cloud environments.
This is a highly execution-focused role requiring strong coding, data engineering, and problem-solving skills, with opportunities to contribute to architecture and integration design.
Responsibilities
• Build and execute data migration and ETL pipelines using Python and cloud-native tools
• Extract, transform, and load data from sources such as SharePoint, APIs, and legacy systems into AWS environments (e.g., S3, Lambda)
• Write scripts and automation to support data conversion, cleansing, and validation
• Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity through validation, reconciliation, and quality checks
• Work with engineering teams on data modeling, pipeline design, and system integrations
• Support movement of data into downstream platforms such as digital asset management (DAM) systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues across systems and pipelines
• Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and scalable migration strategies
Top Skills
• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Migration, or ETL development
• Strong hands-on experience with Python for data processing, scripting, and automation
• Experience building and maintaining ETL / data pipelines
• Hands-on experience with AWS, including S3 and Lambda (or similar services)
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured and unstructured data
• Proven experience supporting data migration, data conversion, or data integration projects
Nice to Have
• Experience with Node.js or additional scripting languages
• Familiarity with data lakes / Snowflake / modern data platforms
• Experience with SharePoint or large-scale content/data extraction
• Exposure to digital asset management systems (e.g., OrangeLogic)
• Background in retail, apparel, or eCommerce
• Experience supporting multiple concurrent migration workstreams
