Role description
Position Overview: All In-Solutions is seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and management of data migrations from legacy systems to new platforms. This critical role involves analyzing existing data structures, ensuring data quality, and developing migration strategies to facilitate seamless transitions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in database management, data transformation, and migration tools, along with exceptional problem-solving skills to address and resolve migration challenges. Key Responsibilities: Β· Migration Planning & Strategy: o Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop comprehensive migration plans, timelines, and strategies. o Design and execute migration processes to ensure the accurate and efficient transfer of data from legacy systems to new platforms. Β· Data Extraction & Transformation: o Extract data from legacy systems, transform it according to new system specifications, and ensure data integrity throughout the migration process. o Analyze existing data structures, map legacy data to the new system, and verify that all essential data is accurately migrated. Β· Data Validation & Quality Assurance: o Perform rigorous data validation and testing to verify data accuracy, completeness, and quality during and after migration. o Develop and execute data quality checks to ensure data integrity and consistency before, during, and after the migration. Β· Issue Resolution & Troubleshooting: o Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues or discrepancies that arise during the data migration process. o Work closely with developers, database administrators, and business analysts to ensure proper data integration into the new system. Β· Documentation & Support: o Maintain detailed documentation of data migration processes, including data mappings, validation scripts, and issues encountered. o Provide post-migration support to address any data-related issues or questions that may arise after system go-live. Qualifications: Β· Education: o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (required). Β· Experience: o 3+ years of experience in data migration, database management, or a related field. o Experience with data integration and ETL tools like Informatica, Talend, or Apache NiFi (preferred). o Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (a plus). Β· Technical Skills: o Proficiency in working with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). o Experience with data migration tools and ETL platforms (e.g., Talend, Informatica). o Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or SQL for data extraction, transformation, and validation. o Ability to transform, map, and clean data to meet the requirements of the target system, ensuring consistency and quality. Β· Core Competencies: o Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements during migration processes. o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot data migration issues and ensure a seamless transition between systems. o Excellent attention to detail and ability to document data migration processes comprehensively.
