Role description
Piper Companies is seeking a Data Migration Lead to support an industry leader in American tobacco manufacturing for a 12 month contract term remote role based in the East Coast. The Data Migration Lead role will be responsible for the end‑to‑end strategy and execution of data migration into SAP S/4HANA, ensuring high‑quality master and transactional data flows that enable stable cutovers and reliable day‑one operations.
Responsibilities of the Data Migration Lead:
• Own the holistic S/4 data migration strategy, roadmap, and execution plan, including phase/wave definitions, cycles, scope, and data readiness checkpoints.
• Lead MDG design/configuration changes to the global model for core domains (e.g., Business Partner, Material/Product, Finance) including enrichment rules, validations, and harmonization to S/4 target models.
• Orchestrate cut‑across activities with SAP functional, integration, testing (SIT/UAT), security, cutover, change management, and data governance teams.
• Lead the full migration lifecycle: extract → profile → cleanse → map → transform → validate → load for master and transactional objects; manage controls for re‑loads and deltas.
• Enforce standards for data quality, lineage, stewardship, and ownership; institutionalize MDG stewardship processes for post‑go‑live sustainment.
Qualifications of the Data Migration Lead:
• 7+ years leading SAP ERP data migrations, including 2+ full‑cycle S/4HANA implementations or conversions preferred
• Hands‑on expertise with: S/4HANA data models (master & transactional), SAP MDG (core domains), and Syniti ADM / Syniti Knowledge Platform (SKP) preferred
• Deep knowledge of SAP master data (e.g., Business Partner/Customer/Vendor, Material, Finance, BOM, Routing) and cross‑module dependencies required
• Strong command of ETL methodologies, data profiling, and data quality principles; proven leadership of global/matrixed teams required
• Experience in large‑scale enterprise transformations with multi‑wave cutovers preferred
• Familiarity with SAP Activate and related migration workstreams preferred
• Ability to translate complex data issues into business‑friendly language; strong stakeholder management preferred
• Background in complex manufacturing, supply chain, or financial environments preferred
Compensation for the Data Migration Lead includes:
• Salary range: $95 USD per hour
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off
This job opens for applications on 05/15/2026. Applications for this job will be accepted for at least 30 days from the posting date.
