Role description
Join a leading independent technology and services provider as a Data Modeller
Job Overview:
As a Data Modeller, you will work with clients who have established a foundational data capability using Databricks and Power BI to support both reporting and operational use cases. The role focuses on designing and introducing distinct layers within the data flow to enable scalable data reuse, extend analytical capabilities, and decouple downstream consumption from changes in source systems.
Location: London EC4V 4AB
Rate: An hourly rate, in-scope IR35 £358 per Day (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company).
Contract Length: up to 23/10/2026
Work Schedule: 3 days onsite/week
Knowledge & Experience
• Significant experience in data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
• Experience with Kimball, Data Vault, canonical modelling, and enterprise data modelling techniques.
• Strong background in requirements gathering across complex technical and business environments.
• Familiarity with Azure data ecosystem, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and modern data platforms.
• Understanding of metadata management, cataloguing, lineage, and access governance.
• Experience supporting multiple squads or projects simultaneously with structured modelling and requirements practices.
• Knowledge of regulatory expectations such as GDPR, retention, and data governance controls.
• Ability to interpret data designs, schemas, and engineering documentation
Skills
• Skilled in translating business needs into precise, structured, and well documented requirements.
• Strong communication skills — able to simplify complex concepts for non technical stakeholders.
• Proficient in modelling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, Lucidchart, Synapse/Fabric modelling tools).
• High attention to detail, analytical rigour, and structured problem solving.
• Comfortable challenging assumptions and guiding stakeholders to well designed solutions.
• Able to influence without authority and drive alignment across technical and business teams.
