Role description
Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Data Modeler to join our data analytics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data models that support business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of database systems, data architecture, and advanced analysis skills to enable effective data-driven decision-making. The Data Modeler will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions align with organizational goals and technical standards.
Responsibilities
Design and develop logical and physical data models for enterprise data warehouses and databases using industry best practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective data models that support reporting, analytics, and machine learning projects.
Maintain and optimize existing data models, ensuring scalability, performance, and integrity across platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Hadoop, and AWS environments.
Work within Agile development teams to deliver iterative improvements on data architecture projects.
Develop and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and relationships to support complex analytical queries.
Utilize SQL, Python, Bash (Unix shell), Spark, Hadoop, and other tools to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data efficiently.
Integrate various data sources including relational databases and big data platforms like Hadoop and Spark for comprehensive analysis.
Support the deployment of machine learning models by ensuring proper data flow and storage structures are in place.
Document data models thoroughly for clarity and future maintenance.
Requirements
Proven experience in database design, modeling, and development with expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, or similar relational databases.
Strong knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, AWS cloud services, and data lakes.
Proficiency in programming languages including Python, Java, Bash (Unix shell), with experience in machine learning integration preferred.
Hands-on experience with Tableau for visualization purposes.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies for project management and development cycles.
Understanding of data warehouse architecture principles and tools such as Microsoft SQL Server or similar platforms.
Excellent analysis skills to interpret complex datasets and translate business needs into technical solutions.
Knowledge of database optimization techniques for performance tuning.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
