Role description
Data Modeller – Commercial Lending
📍 London, UK (2 days pw onsite) | 💷 £500/day (Inside IR35) | 🕒 6-month contract
Our client, a top global organization, is looking for a Data Modeller with strong Commercial / Corporate Lending domain expertise to join a large-scale cloud data transformation programme within Financial Services. This is a hands-on role where you will shape the data foundations supporting lending, risk, and regulatory reporting across a modern cloud and lakehouse architecture. You will lead data modelling activities across Commercial Lending domains, ensuring that business processes, regulatory obligations, and downstream analytics requirements are accurately reflected in scalable, high-quality data models. You’ll work closely with Lending SMEs, Credit Risk, Finance, Data Engineering, and Governance teams to deliver enterprise-grade data assets in a cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Model core Lending entities including:
• Loans, Facilities, Drawdowns
• Collateral, Covenants, Security structures
• Exposure, Repayments, Party hierarchies
• Translate complex business requirements into reusable and scalable data structures
• Embed data quality rules, lineage, and governance standards
• Support regulatory reporting requirements including:
• IFRS9
• PRA / EBA returns
• BCBS 239
• Design models suited for cloud and lakehouse environments (S3, Iceberg, Delta, Hudi)
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure effective implementation in Bronze/Silver/Gold (Medallion) layers
• Maintain documentation, glossaries, and modelling standards
Essential:
• Strong hands-on experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling
• Deep understanding of Commercial Lending domain concepts
• Loan lifecycle (origination → servicing → closure)
• Syndications, bilaterals, exposure, accruals
• Collateral and covenant structures
• Experience with regulatory data frameworks (IFRS9, BCBS 239)
• Strong SQL
• Experience modelling for cloud data platforms
Highly Desirable:
• Experience with LoanIQ
• AWS / Snowflake / Redshift / Lakehouse exposure
• Knowledge of Kimball or Inmon methodologies
