Power BI Data Modeller (Contract - Outside IR35) Hybrid – Edinburgh (2 days onsite) | £500–£550 per day Role Overview This is a proper modelling role – not just building reports. You’ll take ownership of an existing Power BI estate, optimise performance, and lead a full modernisation programme while supporting BAU. You will review the semantic model end-to-end (DAX, performance, storage, security), improve scalability, and drive key upgrades across tooling, governance, and data sources (including Snowflake migration). Essential Skills • Deep Power BI semantic modelling expertise (not just reporting) • Strong DAX, VertiPaq optimisation, and performance tuning • Experience with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, SSMS (XMLA) • Power BI Enterprise Gateway setup and management • Git / CI/CD in Power BI or Fabric environments • Experience modernising / migrating existing BI estates • Strong understanding of dimensional modelling (Kimball) Bonus Points • .pbip + Git-based workflows • RLS / OLS design • Snowflake integration • Microsoft Fabric • Composite models / aggregations This is a solid contract opportunity for an Edinburgh based product company.
