Database Modeling Specialist
Location: Edinburgh, UK (Mainly remote – occasional travel)
Type: Contract (6 months) | Rate: £400/day Inside IR35 | Start Date: ASAP
The Role
Our client, a top global organization, is seeking experienced Database Modeling Specialists to join a leading organisation on a contract basis. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing data models that support both operational systems and analytical platforms within the Power Utilities domain. This is an opportunity to contribute to large-scale transformation projects with significant impact.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and deliver conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
• Conduct data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues and improvement opportunities.
• Apply best practices in normalization, denormalization, and indexing strategies.
• Lead and contribute to data architecture discussions, presenting solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on modeling and architecture best practices.
• Evaluate and recommend new data modeling tools, techniques, and approaches to improve efficiency.
Essential Skills & Experience
• 5+ years’ experience in data modeling or data architecture.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Experience using data modeling tools (e.g. Erwin, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, or similar).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Desirable Skills & Experience
• Domain knowledge in Power Transmission and Distribution.
