Data Modeller | Retail Banking | 6-Month Contract
Location: UK (Hybrid)

We're supporting a leading retail banking organisation on its data maturity and data product journey and are looking for an experienced Data Modeller to join a high-profile transformation programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong data modelling expertise with exceptional stakeholder engagement skills. You'll play a key role in defining and shaping business-critical data assets, working across business and technology teams to create clear, scalable, and well-governed data models that support enterprise-wide initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
• Collaborating with business stakeholders, architects, product owners, and engineering teams to define and model data requirements.
• Creating and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Supporting the development of data products and helping drive data maturity across the organisation.
• Defining data standards, business definitions, metadata, and lineage requirements.
• Translating complex business concepts into clear and effective data models.
• Ensuring alignment with enterprise data architecture and governance frameworks.
• Contributing to data management best practices and modelling standards.
What We're Looking For
• Strong experience in Data Modelling or Data Architecture within a banking or financial services environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• A solid understanding of the differences between conceptual, logical, and physical data models, and the ability to explain and apply these appropriately.
• Experience using data modelling tools such as:
• ERwin
• Sparx Enterprise Architect (EA)
• ER/Studio
• or equivalent
Technical Knowledge
Experience with several of the following:
• Data modelling methodologies including:
• Third Normal Form (3NF)
• Dimensional Modelling
• Data Vault
• Key-Value Data Structures
• NoSQL Document Stores
• Industry data models/frameworks such as:
• IBM Information Framework (IFW)
• Teradata Industry Data Models
• BIAN
• Data Management disciplines including:
• Data Product Management
• Metadata Management
• Data Lineage
• Data Governance
• Data Definitions and Business Glossaries
Ideal Background
• Retail Banking or wider Banking experience is essential.
• Experience supporting organisations on data transformation, modern data architecture, or data maturity initiatives.
• Able to operate confidently at both business and technical levels.
• Comfortable working across conceptual and logical modelling activities, while maintaining an appreciation of physical implementation considerations.
• Not solely focused on database design, nor purely conceptual/ontology modelling. We're looking for someone who can bridge business understanding with practical data modelling delivery.
