Role description
Job Summary We are looking for a Data Product Analyst to own the end-to-end delivery of workflow digitization and data reporting initiatives. In this role, you will act as the crucial bridge between business stakeholders, data modelers, and data engineering teams. You will operate as a technical Product Analyst for backend data capabilities-translating complex business needs into actionable technical requirements, epics, and user stories for Data Engineers and Data Modelers. You will be responsible for defining acceptance criteria, enforcing data quality rules, ensuring solid relational data architecture, and prioritizing the team backlog using Agile and Kanban frameworks. location: Charlotte, North Carolina job type: Contract salary: $45 - 50 per hour work hours: 9am to 5pm education: Bachelors Responsibilities Key Responsibilities 1. Data Product Ownership & Backlog Management โ€ข Own, prioritize, and refine the product backlog in Jira for data engineering and data modeling workstreams. โ€ข Translate business requirements into actionable epics, user stories, technical acceptance criteria, and mapping specs for technical teams. โ€ข Define and measure workflow digitization success, ensuring solutions effectively solve business pain points in production. 1. Requirements Translation & Data Modeling Collaboration โ€ข Work directly with Data Engineers and Data Modelers to design functional data models that support downstream reporting and workflow applications. โ€ข Validate that proposed technical designs and relational database structures meet business needs before and after implementation. โ€ข Map end-to-end data lineage across systems to ensure transparency, traceability, and proper data governance. 1. Data Quality, Validation & Workflow Digitization โ€ข Lead efforts to digitize manual business processes and integrate them into structured, scalable reporting workflows. โ€ข Establish clear data validation rules and data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and integrity across reporting outputs. โ€ข Conduct direct data analysis and auditing using SQL and Excel to verify pipeline outputs and database behavior. 1. Cross-Functional Agile Execution โ€ข Drive Agile/Kanban ceremonies, managing flow, delivery timelines, and board visibility in Jira. โ€ข Serve as the central point of contact between non-technical business partners and technical data delivery teams. Candidate Qualifications Must-Have Requirements โ€ข Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. โ€ข Experience: 2-8 years of experience in product ownership, technical business analysis, data modeling translation, or data-centric delivery roles. โ€ข Product Ownership Mindset: Proven ability to break down business goals into actionable user stories, data mapping specifications, and technical backlog items for engineering teams. โ€ข SQL & Relational Databases: Practical SQL querying skills and a strong foundational understanding of relational database concepts (RDBMS), schema design, and data structures. โ€ข Agile & Kanban Mastery: Hands-on experience driving work using Kanban boards, managing backlogs, and organizing deliverables within Jira. โ€ข Data Quality & Lineage: Hands-on experience defining data validation rules, data quality standards, and tracing end-to-end data lineage. โ€ข Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of facilitating alignment between business stakeholders and technical teams. Nice-to-Have โ€ข Experience with automated workflow tools, dashboarding platforms, or AI/ML workflow integration. โ€ข Agile/Scrum or Product Owner certifications (e.g., PSPO, CSPO).
