Role description
Data Protection & AI Governance Advisor
IR35: Inside
Contract: 4+ Months
Location: Remote
Key Requirements
• CIPP/E qualification (essential).
• 2–6 years' experience in Data Protection, Privacy, Compliance, or Governance roles within a technology, software, or digital environment.
• Good understanding of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, PECR, and privacy governance principles.
• Experience supporting privacy compliance activities, risk assessments, and governance processes.
• Awareness of AI governance, responsible AI principles, or emerging AI regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• Organised and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
• CIPM, CIPT, or other privacy-related certifications.
• Exposure to AI governance frameworks, AI risk management, or responsible AI initiatives.
• Experience supporting supplier due diligence activities.
• Knowledge of ISO 27701, NIST frameworks, or similar governance standards.
• Experience maintaining compliance documentation and records.
Responsibilities
• Provide guidance and support on data protection and privacy requirements across business activities.
• Assist with DPIAs, LIAs, AI impact assessments, and risk reviews, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Support supplier due diligence activities relating to privacy and AI controls.
• Help maintain and improve governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain Article 30 records and other privacy-related registers.
• Work with business teams to promote compliant and responsible use of data and AI technologies.
• Monitor regulatory developments and support implementation of compliance improvements.
• Contribute to wider compliance, risk, and governance initiatives as required.
