Role description
• Coventry; Milton Keynes; Northampton; Peterborough • Fixed Term Contract - 14 months / Full Time Do you have a passion for data privacy and a sharp eye for detail? Are you confident in navigating complex regulations and turning them into practical, business friendly solutions? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As a Data Protection & Privacy Specialist, you’ll play a key role in supporting and evolving the Group’s privacy programme. Working closely with the Data Protection Officer (DPO), you’ll ensure compliance with UK data protection regulations, including UK GDPR while helping embed a strong culture of data privacy across the organisation. This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll engage with stakeholders across the business, providing expert guidance, driving best practice and ensuring data protection remains a core priority. This is a hybrid role and you will be expected to travel to our Head Office based in Duston, Northampton on a weekly basis. Key Responsibilities: • Provide practical support to the Travis Perkins Group Data Protection Officer (DPO) in mitigating data protection risks. • Manage and respond to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) in line with GDPR requirements. • Conduct and manage Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new projects and third-party engagements. • Support the development and maintenance of data protection policies, procedures and guidance. • Collaborate with cross functional data owners to ensure alignment with the organisation’s privacy framework. • Monitor compliance and track performance against data protection objectives. • Collate and present monthly privacy KPIs to senior leadership. • Act as a subject matter expert, delivering training and raising awareness of data protection across the business. • Stay up to date with evolving data protection legislation and communicate changes effectively. • Drive continuous improvement in data protection practices and processes. What We’re Looking For: • Practitioner certification in GDPR or equivalent. • Experience and knowledge of Data Protection laws, practices and GDPR with experience of applying these within a large complex organisation. • Experience conducting privacy and security risk assessments, with the ability to provide practical recommendations. • Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. • High level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills. • Excellent problem solving abilities and a proactive mindset. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to a wide range of stakeholders. • A strong sense of ownership, accountability and integrity. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment. Desirable Experience: • IAPP certification or foundation - GDPR certification. • Experience implementing GDPR frameworks within large organisations. • Familiarity with privacy management tools such as OneTrust.
