Data Science Manager

Akkodis is seeking a Data Science Technical Project Lead for a contract with a client located in New York and Waltham, MA and ideally strong hands-on AI/ML, Project Management, GenAI/Agentic AI, Azure, Python, GIS- ArcGIS, GIT, Stack Overflow, kaggle, kdnuggets and Power BI. Rate Range: $68/hr-70/hr (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors) Must have Data Science, AI, and Project Management Job Description: As a Data Science Technical Project Lead at a client, you lead the delivery of multiple simultaneous projects from beginning to end. You will work in a dynamic organization to turn data into actionable intelligence. The variety and complexity of challenges you will solve is second to none, but most important is the real-world impact your work will have on the lives of millions of people. About the Position: Data Science teams provide insights and conclusions from multiple sources of information in a variety of different formats using analysis techniques that range from the simple to the advanced. An ability to work cross-functionally and on agile teams is critical. In addition to broad technical knowledge, you need to have exemplary expertise in project management, change management, and stakeholder management. You should have a strong knowledge of: • Project management and change management frameworks • Effective visualization and presentation • Statistical & probabilistic analyses • Machine learning methodologies, including GenAI • Programming/software development Position responsibilities (including but not limited to): • Fully own and lead the delivery of 2-3 data science projects concurrently • Define the project's direction, scope, timelines, and deliverables in close collaboration with business stakeholders • Ensure that the insights delivered are actionable • Collaborate and liaise with technical and non-technical teams across all of the client and, occasionally, externally • Staff project pods with a combination of internal client data scientists and external contractors/consultants • When projects require - be able to contribute hands to the keyboard (Python) • Be intellectually curious and enjoy learning Requirements: • Exceptional project management, change management, and stakeholder management skills • Fluency in AI/ML tools and techniques, including GenAI/Agentic AI • Experience with cloud computing (Azure is a plus) • Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline, exceptional candidates considered with a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in progress Preferred skills: • Energy or utility experience • Active GitHub repository and Stack Overflow account • Data Science competition entries (kaggle, kdnuggets, etc.) • GIS knowledge (ArcGIS is a plus) • Interactive visualization tools (Power BI is a plus) • Knowledge of Agile frameworks.
