Role description
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Data Scientist 2. The work will be done onsite in Mossville, Illinois. This is a long-term 24-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $70/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a Data Scientist to support advanced computer vision, machine learning, and autonomous systems initiatives. This role will focus on developing and maintaining annotation pipelines, integrating machine learning workflows, enhancing data processing tools, and supporting cloud-based infrastructure. The successful candidate will work across Python-based backend systems, UI/UX development, annotation platforms, and AWS environments while collaborating with engineers and data scientists to improve model training and data quality. This position offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies including 2D/3D annotation workflows, computer vision, AI-assisted development, and autonomous systems data processing.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and enhance data annotation and machine learning workflows supporting computer vision and autonomous systems applications.
• Integrate and support rosbag-to-COCO conversion pipelines and 2D-to-3D projection mapping processes.
• Build and maintain APIs, backend services, and data processing pipelines using Python.
• Enhance UI/UX functionality within annotation platforms and translate customer requirements into intuitive user experiences.
• Support cloud-based workflows and data management processes within AWS environments.
• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD infrastructure and software deployment processes.
• Collaborate with development teams through GitHub pull requests, code reviews, design documentation, and technical discussions.
• Support machine learning model integration, annotation pipeline updates, and ongoing platform improvements.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2–4 years of professional experience in software development, data science, machine learning, computer vision, or a related field.
• Strong Python programming experience for data processing, pipeline development, and machine learning integration.
• Experience working with annotation workflows, machine learning datasets, or computer vision applications.
• Familiarity with coordinate transformations and projection mapping concepts.
• Experience using Git/GitHub, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with JavaScript and UI/UX development.
• Experience with CVAT or similar annotation tools.
• Familiarity with ROS and rosbag data formats.
• Knowledge of COCO dataset formats and annotation standards.
• Experience with 3D object detection, BEV Fusion, or related machine learning pipelines.
• Experience working with AWS cloud services and CI/CD environments.
• Understanding of AI-assisted or agentic software development workflows.
• Experience presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
