Role description
Role: Data Scientist Job Type: Contract (W2) Location: USA (Remote with travel) Duration: 6 Months (Extension Possible) Work Model: Remote (USA) with 25%–30% travel required across the USA About the Role We are looking for a highly experienced Data Scientist with a strong background in manufacturing and industrial systems. The role involves building scalable data solutions, deploying machine learning models, and enabling real-time analytics to improve shop floor operations, production efficiency, and overall business outcomes. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams and bridge OT and IT systems. Key Responsibilities • Develop and deploy ML models for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, demand forecasting, and root cause analysis • Build scalable data pipelines for high-volume manufacturing and IoT data • Integrate data from MES, SCADA, and ERP systems for real-time analytics • Apply OEE, SPC, Six Sigma, and lean methodologies to improve production efficiency • Work with industrial protocols such as OPC-UA, MQTT, and Modbus • Perform statistical analysis including time series, regression, clustering, and hypothesis testing • Design and conduct A/B experiments and simulations to validate process improvements • Translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and leadership teams Required Skills • 8–10 years of experience as a Data Scientist • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL • Hands-on experience with Spark, Kafka, Airflow, and Delta Lake • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Databricks, or Snowflake • Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques • Experience deploying ML models into production environments • Knowledge of MES, SCADA, and ERP systems Preferred Qualifications • 2–3 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environments • Experience with IoT and real-time data streaming • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices • Experience working with large-scale production data systems Soft Skills • Strong communication and presentation skills • Ability to translate technical insights into business outcomes • Problem-solving and analytical thinking • Adaptability and flexibility • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management Primary Skills • Machine Learning • Data Engineering • Python & SQL • Industrial Data Systems (MES, SCADA, ERP) • Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake) Specialization Manufacturing Analytics / Industrial Data Science / IoT & Predictive Maintenance
