Role description
Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for Data Scientist for a mission-driven organization leveraging data and technology to create meaningful impact across communities and sectors. This role is remote, and must be U.S. based and able to work EST hours.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Candidates for this role must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Data Scientist will support end-to-end development and deployment of data science solutions, from data preparation through model implementation. This role works closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, production-ready machine learning solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, effective communication skills, and a collaborative, impact-oriented mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and deploy end-to-end data science solutions, including data preparation, modeling, and implementation
• Build and maintain production-ready data pipelines and machine learning workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and customer success
• Communicate technical concepts and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute to codebase through development, testing, and code reviews
• Apply statistical and machine learning methods while ensuring ethical evaluation and bias awareness
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in data science (4-6 years total professional experience)
• Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis and machine learning
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Solid experience with data platforms such as Databricks (highly preferred), Snowflake, or similar tools
• Experience in machine learning, including applying, optimizing, and evaluating diverse algorithms
• Strong understanding of statistical methods and predictive modeling techniques
• Experience managing end-to-end data science projects with multiple stakeholders
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This contract position offers a competitive hourly rate of $57–$62 W2 (DOE), with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week for an initial 6+month engagement.
